James Means, a 15-year-old black boy was shot twice by William Pulliam, a 62-year-old white man. The event took place on the night of November 22 in the town of Charleston, West Virgina, after Means and Pulliam had an argument about Pulliam accusing Means of bumping into him. (Photo of James Means)
Pulliam reportedly told police officers that he “felt threatened” by the 15-year-old and Pulliam allegedly described Means as “another piece of trash off the street,” according to the Associated Press.
Means died after the shooting in Charleston Area Medical Center General Hospital.
Pulliam has been charged with first degree murder and investigators are “in the early stages” of determining if the murder was a hate crime or not, according to the Associated Press, who quoted Assistant U.S attorney Steve Ruby.

Means family have started up a go fund me page to help pay for Means’ funeral, with the goal of raising $3,000
